With the growth of age and physical deterioration, the elderly need walkers to assist walking due to osteoporosis, muscle atrophy, hemiplegia after stroke, trauma and other reasons. At present, there are many kinds of walking AIDS, but their range of application and purpose are different. Proper use can help with daily walking, and wrong use is a major cause of falls. Therefore, how to correctly guide the safe use of patients is particularly important.
1. Walking Stick
One-legged walking stick: Light weight, easy to go up and down stairs, suitable for use in places with limited support space but poor stability. It is suitable for patients with good grip strength and strong upper limb support.
Multi-legged walking stick: Wide support surface, good stability, suitable for slow walking on flat ground, unstable fast walking. For those with poor balance and weak arm strength.
2. Underarm crutches
Indicate:
1. Unilateral lower limb weakness, unable to bear weight partially or completely, such as sequelae of poliomyelitis, tibia and fibula fracture.
2. Lower limb insufficiency, the left and right legs can not alternate walking, such as paraplegia, plaster fixation of the hip, or other methods of braking.
3. Walking AIDS
Scope of application:
1. Unilateral lower limb weakness or amputation, such as senile osteoarthritis or femur fracture healing.
2. Need for independent and stable stander due to decreased muscle strength or poor overall or lower limb coordination, as in multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's disease.
3. Extensive support is needed to help move and build confidence, such as for older people who are bedridden or ill for long periods of time.
4. Wheeled walking frame and wheelchair
Indications: Suitable for lower limb dysfunction, unable to lift a Walker to walk patients.
Usage: Similar to a standard walking aid, but should be used with some space. It can be dangerous when going uphill or downhill. It is not suitable for use on uneven ground.
5. walking Chair and lifting platform
Applicable object:
1. Patients whose upper and lower limbs are involved and cannot bear the weight of their wrists and hands.
2. Patients with lower limb dysfunction, who need to use a walker or forearm to support crutches, but have upper limb dysfunction or uncoordination.
